Providing detailed information on the Grow Genius System. From initial setup to advanced environment synchronization, we ensure your harvest reaches its full potential.
01 / Getting Started
Both the GGS Controller and GGS Power Strip are master control devices that can operate independently, directly managing sensors and connected devices (heaters, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, lights, etc.).
When used together, the Controller becomes the top-level master and the Power Strip becomes a mid-tier device — managed by the Controller above, while still managing its own connected devices and sensors below.
The hierarchy is: Controller (top master) → Power Strip (mid-tier) → Sub-devices + Sensors
GGS (Grow Genius System) is Spider Farmer's intelligent environment control ecosystem. It connects controllers, sensors, lights, fans, and other devices through the Spider Farmer APP to automate your grow environment.
The GGS ecosystem includes four main categories of devices:
- Controllers & Hubs — GGS Pro Controller, GGS Controller, GGS Power Strip, S Station
- Sensors — Standard sensor, 4-in-1 / 5-in-1 Sensor Pro Kits, Soil Sensor
- Smart Add-ons — SF-IRAC (smart AC companion, coming soon)
- Spider Farmer APP — Mobile monitoring and control center
GGS is a flexible ecosystem. There are two ways to get started:
Option A — Full Automation (System Level)
To automatically control dehumidifiers, heaters, fans based on temperature and humidity, you need:
- One master control device (GGS Controller, GGS Power Strip, or S Station)
- At least one sensor (included with Controller / Power Strip kits)
- 2.4GHz WiFi network + Spider Farmer APP
Option B — Smart Light Control Only
If you have SE or G series LED grow lights, they can be added directly to the APP without any controller.
Place the sensor at canopy level for the most accurate readings. Avoid placing it:
- Directly under the grow light or in direct light (inflated temperature)
- Near intake or exhaust fans (airflow affects readings)
- On the tent wall, floor, or top corners (not representative of canopy conditions)
Most users complete the full setup in 15–20 minutes:
- Install and connect all devices (controller, sensors, sub-devices, etc.) (~5 min)
- Download Spider Farmer APP and create an account (~2 min)
- Power on the controller and pair with the APP via Bluetooth (~3 min)
- Configure WiFi (~5 min)
- Set your target environment parameters (~5 min)
No. GGS works entirely without a subscription. All core features — real-time monitoring, automation rules, alerts, and data history — are included free with the hardware.
The Spider Farmer APP is free to download and use on both iOS and Android.
02 / Connectivity
No. GGS devices only support 2.4GHz WiFi. This is standard for IoT devices because 2.4GHz offers better range and wall penetration.
Try these steps in order:
- Confirm your WiFi is 2.4GHz (not 5GHz)
- Move the controller closer to your router during initial setup
- Check that your WiFi password does not contain special characters
- Restart the controller or restore factory settings
- Delete the device from the APP and re-add it
Yes. As long as your GGS devices are connected to WiFi and online, you can monitor and control everything remotely through the Spider Farmer APP from anywhere with an internet connection.
After power is restored, GGS devices will automatically reconnect to WiFi as long as the network is working normally — no manual action needed.
For Bluetooth: when you open the Spider Farmer APP, it will automatically attempt to establish a Bluetooth connection. If the APP is fully closed (background process terminated), the Bluetooth connection may drop and will restore when you reopen the APP.
During initial setup, open the Spider Farmer APP and tap "Add Device". The APP will automatically scan for nearby devices via Bluetooth, including:
- GGS Controller / Pro Controller
- GGS Power Strip
- S Station
- G series / SE series LED grow lights (with digital dimmer box)
Humidifiers, heaters, and dehumidifiers cannot be found directly via Bluetooth, but once connected to a master control device they can be recognized and controlled in the APP.
When Bluetooth is available, the app will prioritize Bluetooth for communication as it is faster.
03 / Sensors & Data
VPD (Vapor Pressure Deficit) measures the difference between the moisture in the air and the maximum moisture the air can hold. It's the most accurate way to understand how your plants "feel" their environment.
Optimal VPD by growth stage:
- Seedling / Clone: 0.4–0.8 kPa
- Vegetative: 0.8–1.2 kPa
- Flowering: 1.0–1.5 kPa
GGS calculates VPD automatically from temperature and humidity readings.
The Spider Farmer APP stores environment data history for up to 4 months. You can view daily, weekly, and monthly trend charts directly in the APP.
Data can be exported as CSV through the APP's settings menu for further analysis.
Each master control device (GGS Controller, GGS Power Strip, S Station) supports only one sensor per type — except soil sensors, which support up to 6. If you need to monitor multiple grow spaces, the GGS Pro Controller supports up to 8 independent rooms, each with its own sensor.
First, check sensor placement — proximity to lights or fans is the most common cause of inaccurate readings.
To calibrate: open the APP → Sensor Calibration; use a known-accurate thermometer/hygrometer as reference; enter offset values to adjust readings.
If the offset required is too large, the sensor may need replacement — contact Spider Farmer support to confirm.
Dashes (--) indicate the controller cannot communicate with the sensor. Common causes:
- Sensor is not connected or plug is not fully seated
- Sensor cable is damaged
- Incorrect wiring order or wrong port between master device and sensor
Try: re-seating the sensor cable firmly; checking that all wiring connections are correct; replacing the sensor cable if damaged.
04 / Controller
Both controllers manage inline fans, lights, and sensors. Key differences:
- Hardware: Pro has a touchscreen and is designed for multi-room / large-scale setups; standard is more compact, ideal for single-tent use.
- Deep integration: Both support precise % dimming/speed control and scheduling for LED lights and inline fans.
- Pro Controller (current limitation): Originally designed for commercial grows, the Pro currently manages humidifiers, dehumidifiers, heaters, and clip fans via GGS Power Strip (on/off power control based on sensor data). It does not yet support direct fine-grained control of retail peripherals.
- Standard Controller & Power Strip: Already adapted for retail peripherals with full mode and parameter control in the APP.
- Upcoming: GGS Pro Controller is planned to support direct fine-grained control of all retail peripherals in Q2 this year.
GGS supports two automation modes for each device. Below is an overview by device type:
Inline Fan / Clip Fan
① Time Mode: Multi-segment timing (set start/end times + fan speed + standby speed; CO₂ device power is automatically cut while fan runs) or Cycle timing (run duration → pause duration → repeat).
② Environment Mode: 5 trigger options based on real-time sensor data — Temp Only, Humidity Only, Temp & Humidity, Temp Priority (force-stop if temp too low), Humidity Priority (force-stop if humidity too low).
Humidifier — Time segment / Cycle / Humidity mode (4 levels + auto level)
Dehumidifier — Time segment / Cycle / Humidity mode (2 speed levels)
SF-IRAC (AC companion) — Time segment / Cycle / Environment mode (temperature-based)
LED Grow Light — Scheduled dimming with sunrise/sunset simulation; PPFD mode (requires Sensor Pro Kits)
Power Strip outlets — Multi-segment timer, cycle timer, heating mode, cooling mode, humidification mode, dehumidification mode, CO₂ boost, CO₂ exhaust, drip irrigation (soil sensor moisture-based)
Yes — for compatible Spider Farmer LED grow lights (SE, SF, and G series). The controller supports scheduled dimming, sunrise/sunset simulation, and stage-based light programs.
For advanced PPFD auto-dimming (automatically adjusting light output based on real-time canopy light intensity), you need to purchase the Sensor Pro Kits, which includes the 5-in-1 sensor with PPFD monitoring.
Firmware updates are pushed through the Spider Farmer APP: open APP → Settings → Firmware Update. If an update is available, tap "Update Now". Keep the controller powered on during the update. Do not unplug during a firmware update — this may cause the device to become unresponsive.
05 / APP & Software
The Spider Farmer APP is available for free:
- iOS: App Store — search "Spider Farmer"
- Android: Google Play — search "Spider Farmer"
GGS uses a one-to-one account binding — one device can only be controlled by one account. If another phone logs into the same account, the original device will be automatically signed out, but device settings are preserved.
To switch account binding:
- Via Controller: Use "User Reset" to unbind the account. The new account can then search for and add the device. Do not use "Reset" (Factory Reset) — this erases all settings.
- Via APP: Swipe left to delete the device in the APP, then the new account can search for and add it.
No. GGS is currently only controllable through the Spider Farmer mobile APP (iOS and Android). There is no web dashboard or desktop application available at this time.
The Spider Farmer APP supports in-app alerts for the following parameters: Air Temperature, Air Humidity, VPD, Soil Temperature, Soil Moisture (WC), Soil EC, CO₂, and PPFD. When a value exceeds your set range, an in-app alert is triggered.
Note: Push notifications are currently in development. In-app alerts are available now.
Try the following steps:
- Force close and restart the APP
- Check if an update is available in the App Store or Google Play
- Restart your phone
- Uninstall and reinstall the APP
If the issue persists, contact Spider Farmer support and provide: all devices currently connected in your account, your registered email, Device ID, and screenshots or video if possible. Providing complete information upfront helps us identify the issue faster.
06 / Troubleshooting
Try these steps:
- Check that your WiFi router is working normally
- Unplug the controller, wait a moment, then plug it back in
- Check if the controller's WiFi indicator light is on
- If the above steps don't work, delete the device from the APP and re-add it
Check the following:
- Confirm the automation rule is enabled (toggle is on)
- Check that the sensor is connected and showing live readings
- Verify the trigger conditions — the current environment may already be within the target range, so the rule has not triggered yet
- Confirm the fan is properly connected to the controller
- Try manually controlling the fan from the APP to confirm the device responds
Push notification support is currently in development. In-app alerts are available now — you can set thresholds for temperature, humidity, VPD, CO₂, PPFD, and soil parameters in the APP.
Reset method varies by device:
- GGS Controller: Go to Settings → "Factory Data Reset"
- GGS Power Strip: Long-press the Ctrl button until the indicator light flashes
- S Station: Long-press the → button
- G / SE series lights (with digital dimmer box): Long-press the knob
Warning: A factory reset erases all automation rules, schedules, and settings and cannot be undone.
07 / Compatibility
GGS is compatible with the following Spider Farmer devices:
- Fans: SF inline fans and clip fans
- LED Grow Lights: SE series, SF series, G series
- Environmental controls: SF humidifiers, dehumidifiers, heaters
- Sensors: GGS Standard Day/Light sensor, 4-in-1 Sensor Pro Kits, 5-in-1 Sensor Pro Kits, Soil Sensor

GGS is a closed ecosystem designed specifically for Spider Farmer devices. It does not integrate with third-party controllers, sensors, or smart home platforms such as Inkbird or Govee.
You can use GGS alongside other systems independently — they just won't communicate with each other.
No. GGS does not currently support integration with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple HomeKit, or other smart home platforms. GGS operates through the Spider Farmer APP only.
Yes. You can add multiple master control devices (GGS Controller, GGS Power Strip, or S Station) to the same APP account — each independently manages its own grow space with one sensor.
For single-device multi-zone management, the GGS Pro Controller supports up to 8 independent rooms, each with its own sensor, all visible in one APP dashboard.
